There are many, many reputable magazines in the market serving the building industry. They might be targeted at architects, specifiers, developers, contractors, or builders’ merchants. They could also be serving specialist areas such as bathrooms and kitchens retailers, heating and ventilating engineers, civil engineers, the doors and windows industry, or possibly the self-build market.

 

Unfortunately, there are also too many less reputable titles. We receive many calls every week saying something along the lines of: “we have your press release, and our editor would like to run it in the next issue ... we just need a colour separations authorisation of ££££”

 

The problem is, most of these magazines have no proof of readership. Indeed, we know of magazines that would sell the colour separations, but never publish. Your only proof of publication might be a PDF on a web site. And ... where did they get the press release from? We didn’t send it to them!
